------------------Shaolin Kung Fu
Shaolin History
Shaolin is considered to be the Grand Father of the fighting arts of Asia, as almost all styles of martial arts can be trace its roots to the Shaolin Temple.
Developed by the monks as a means of self discipline, physical conditioning self-defense,Shaolin Kung Fu evolved into a total fighting art.
Shaolin Kung Fu developed its full potential during the rule of the Manchurians (Ching Dynasty).
The Shaolin temple was considered a safe haven for all revolutionaries.
This caused many skilled masters of Kung Fu to seek refuge and develope Shaolin Kung Fu to help in the revolt against the Chings.
Shaolin Kung Fu is considered a long range fighting style,
using full extension of the arms and legs for penetration and maximum speed, also waist rotation to generate power. Its blocking techniques are circular to deflect and control, and can also be used as a simultaneous block and strike. Shaolin Kung Fu encompasses both beauty and skill, to be a total fighting art.

Master Shi De Shan
Master Shi De Shan is a 31st generation disciple and martial monk (wu seng) from the Shao lin Temple, Songshan Mountain, Henan Province, China. He was born in Jiang Su Province in 1966. His secular name is Qing Shan Wan.
As a child, his all-consuming desire was to study kung fu at the Shaolin Temple. In 1979, at age 13, against his family's wishes he left home and made the long journey by himself to Henan Province. Arriving at the temple, he found it all but deserted. Undeterred, he searched everywhere for word of what had happened to the Shaolin monks, and finally made contact with Master Zhang Shu Chi and Master Fu Ji Chang, former monks who were still secretly teaching and who agreed to accept him as a student.
By 1983 the political climate in China was changing, and a number of the monks returned to the Shaolin Temple. Young Wan returned with them. In 1985, Master Fu Ji Chang added his name to the official list of Shaolin martial monks. He was accepted as a disciple by Shi Su Yuan, a 30th generation martial monk, who gave him the religious name Shi De Shan ("Shan" means "Mountain").
Shi De Shan's specialities are traditional Shaolin kung fu barehand and weapons, hard qi gong and san da (san shou) sparring. After completing his training, he remained in residence at the temple for a number of years as an instructor, primarily teaching Chinese military and police personnel. In 1998 he left China to perform in the "Shaolin Kungfu of China" world tour. After completing the tour, the Shaolin Temple gave him permission to remain in the United States, open a Shaolin Temple s chool in Houston, Texas, and continue the work of spreading the Shaolin philosophy in America. |
